Piro-Free Dressage Mare: GP Talent, Amateur-Friendly Rideability

Piro-free Grand Prix mare, combining outstanding bloodlines, dressage talent and exceptional rideability. We believe she is an outstanding choice for a competitive amateur rider looking for a partner with whom to gain valuable competition experience at Big Tour level. Could she be the one to help you achieve your USDF Gold Medal?

Born in 2013, this Lusitano mare was imported from Brazil to Portugal in 2025. She is now fully established in the Grand Prix movements and ready to compete at this level. She is a daughter of Viheste, the Olympic and recommended stallion from the prestigious Alter Real Stud, and has inherited from her sire very strong characteristics for dressage. Her talent is particularly evident in the collected work, with piaffe and passage being clear highlights. She is expressive, forward-thinking and active in her work, while remaining remarkably easy to ride. Her way of going is straightforward and uncomplicated, with soft and stable contact, natural balance and a comfortable feel under saddle. Despite her level of training, she remains an approachable and amateur-friendly horse. She combines the talent and training required for Grand Prix with a rideability that makes her particularly interesting for an amateur rider.

At Lusitano World, we make a point of having our horses test ridden by a member of our team whenever possible, allowing us to better understand and represent their qualities from the saddle. Filipa Jácome, founder of Lusitano World and an amateur rider herself, personally test rode this mare as part of our Lusitano World Test Ride series, giving her own perspective on the mare's rideability and suitability for an amateur rider. Her temperament is equally appealing. She has a lovely disposition and shows no marish behaviour whatsoever. She is very quiet in the box, easy to groom and calm around other horses. She is accustomed to going to the paddock and is very easy to manage in her daily routine. She also has significant travel experience, having made the international journey from Brazil to Portugal. She is accustomed to both air and land transport and has already experienced the demands of long-distance international travel.

Beyond her qualities as a sport horse, she has also proven herself as a broodmare. She is an approved breeding mare, scoring 73.5 points, and has already produced nine descendants in Brazil, adding an established breeding record to her qualities as a competition horse. For the amateur rider, this mare offers a particularly compelling combination: established Grand Prix training, strong Lusitano dressage genetics, proven breeding value, excellent rideability and a genuinely uncomplicated temperament.
