WHAT IS ROCAS FESTIVAL?

Rocas Festival is a unique event dedicated to the Lusitano horse, organised by Rocas do Vouga Stud and the Tavares de Almeida family, at their prestigious estate in Itu, São Paulo, Brazil. Created as a celebration of the Lusitano in all its dimensions, the festival brings together sport, breeding, culture and knowledge, creating a remarkable meeting point for breeders, riders, owners and enthusiasts of the breed. It connects an exceptional and distinctive network of people and institutions dedicated to the Lusitano, from Brazil, Portugal and beyond.

The programme features an exceptional range of equestrian competitions, including a CDI3* in Dressage, Working Equitation, Model & Gait competitions and a Stallion Approval, alongside conferences and dedicated talks exploring Lusitano breeding, training and the future of the breed, with recognised experts from across the equestrian world.

At the heart of the Festival is the Rocas do Vouga Auction, taking place on 5 December 2027. The auction presents a carefully selected collection of Lusitano horses from the renowned Rocas do Vouga breeding programme, alongside horses presented by invited guest breeders. It offers an exclusive opportunity to discover and acquire horses of different ages, profiles, disciplines and levels of training, all of them tested piro free.

Rocas Festival and the Auction are private events, accessible by invitation only. Buyers wishing to attend may register through Lusitano World. Each application is carefully reviewed, and approved buyers will receive a private invitation, together with personalised support throughout the auction experience — from horse selection and advisory services to pre-access to the auction rules, we will also support you with pre-auction test rides, bidding support and post-purchase logistics.

To attend Rocas Festival means much more than the opportunity to acquire a horse. We believe that trust starts with transparency. Lusitano World works in partnership with Rocas do Vouga to present the auction and its collection to international buyers. But our role goes beyond promoting the event. When advising a buyer, our priority is to understand your goals, experience and expectations — and help you make the right decision.

We do not want you to simply buy a horse. We want you to find the right horse for you — one you can enjoy, develop and build a lasting relationship with for years to come. If your purchase is part of an investment strategy, we apply the same approach, helping you identify horses with the potential to create value over time.

How Our Service Is Compensated? Our compensation structure is simple and transparent. Lusitano World receives a 10% success fee from Rocas do Vouga, calculated on the sale price of any horse purchased by a client we advise. There are no additional commissions, hidden fees or charges from Lusitano World. Our goal is to make the entire process clear, informed and seamless, with your interests at the centre of every recommendation we make.

PRE-AUCTION EXPERIENCE

Don’t fly to Brazil for one auction night. Come early. Meet the horses. Ride them. Take the time to make the right decision. 

The Lusitano World Pre-Auction Experience gives international buyers the opportunity to discover and test ride the horses before the auction, away from the pressure of the auction ring. Arrive a few days before the festival, settle in and experience the horses in their own environment. With accommodation and logistics fully organised by Lusitano World, you can focus on meeting the horses, riding them and identifying the candidates that truly match what you’re looking for.

Arrive approximately five days before the Rocas Festival begins. Lusitano World will coordinate all logistics, including your accommodation and help you make the most of your time in Brazil.

All Logistics, Seamlessly Organised

From the moment you arrive, everything is taken care of. You’ll stay at our selected hotel, just 10 minutes from Rocas do Vouga, with private transfers arranged to and from the airport, as well as between the hotel and the event venue. Once accepted onto our Buyer List, you’ll receive your complete travel guide, with every detail arranged for your comfort, safety and peace of mind.

You don’t need to navigate Brazil, the horses or the auction alone. From the moment you land in Brazil, you have someone on the ground. Our team is there to make your journey seamless, comfortable and fully supported. Here are the key details to keep in mind as you plan your time with us in Brazil.

DATES TO KEEP IN MIND

Plan to arrive in Brazil in time for the Lusitano World Pre-Auction Experience, from 28 November to 1 December. Rocas do Vouga Festival takes place 2–6 December, with the Rocas Auction on 5 December. We recommend allowing yourself these few extra days before the Festival to meet, ride and experience the horses without the pressure of auction night.

02.

FLIGHTS & ARRIVAL

We recommend flying into Viracopos International Airport (VCP), Campinas, the closest option, or São Paulo–Guarulhos International Airport (GRU). Once your Buyer registration is confirmed, our team will assist with your arrival planning and provide all the information you need before travelling.

 

03.

YOUR HOTEL

We have selected Otho Hotel Convention & SPA for our international buyers, conveniently located approximately 10 minutes from Rocas do Vouga. Rooms are approximately €200 per night, and our team will take care of your reservation, so your stay is arranged before you arrive.

04.

PRIVATE AIRPORT TRANSFERS

A private driver can be arranged to welcome you at the airport and take you directly to your hotel, as well as for your return journey at the end of your stay. The transfer rate is €100. Your driver and arrival details will be shared with you in advance, ensuring a smooth and comfortable journey from the moment you land.

 

05.

HOTEL ↔ ROCAS DO VOUGA

During the Festival, dedicated transfers between the hotel and Rocas do Vouga will be provided at no additional cost, operating approximately every two hours. This allows you to move comfortably between the hotel and the venue throughout the event without having to arrange your own transportation.

06.

PRIVATE BUYER ACCESS

Once approved as a Lusitano World buyer, you will receive full access to Rocas do Vouga Festival and the Auction. Our team will make sure you have the information and access you need throughout the experience, from the pre-auction days through to auction night.

 

07.

VIP AUCTION TABLE

On auction night, you will be welcomed at the Lusitano World table, with a dedicated place to enjoy the evening alongside our team. We will be there to guide you through the auction, assist with bidding and ensure you feel fully supported when it matters most.

Throughout your stay, members of both the Lusitano World and Rocas do Vouga teams will be on hand to assist you. Whether you need support with a horse, the auction or simply the practical details of your stay, you will always have someone to turn to.
