Trajano Cariama

Following in the footsteps of an Olympic legend is no small feat, but this promising young son of Rubi AR certainly has a head start. Bearing a striking resemblance to his celebrated father, he combines the appeal of exceptional dressage bloodlines with a lovely temperament and the kind of rideability that makes him a pleasure to work with. Bred by Rancho Cariama and specially invited to join the Rocas do Vouga Auction 2026, he is a compact, strongly built Lusitano with a classical appearance and a pedigree that needs little introduction. His sire, Rubi AR, represented Portugal at the Olympic Games and remains one of the most recognised Lusitanos in international dressage. For those who admire this bloodline, the resemblance between father and son makes this young prospect even more interesting.

His natural balance and consistency are among his greatest strengths. He shows three correct, regular gaits, with good rhythm and an ability to maintain his balance without constant adjustments from the rider. Everything feels remarkably straightforward, providing a solid foundation for his future development. The canter is particularly impressive. Naturally balanced, rhythmic and easy to organise, it is a gait that gives us good reason to be optimistic about his progression towards more advanced work. We can easily imagine him developing a lovely ability for collection, while his natural coordination suggests that the flying changes could come quite easily as his training progresses. Under saddle, he offers a soft, pleasant contact and a comfortable feeling for the rider. He is uncomplicated in his responses and appreciates a calm, consistent approach. Rather than demanding complicated riding, he allows his rider to focus on developing the work and enjoying the process. There is also a more personal side to his character. Naturally a little shy, he is the kind of horse who needs a little time to build confidence in someone new. Once that trust is established, however, we believe he has all the qualities to develop a particularly close relationship with his rider. He has the makings of a wonderful one-person horse, rewarding patience and consistency with a genuine partnership.

For an amateur looking for a younger Lusitano with good rideability and the potential to progress in dressage, he offers an appealing opportunity. His education will naturally need to continue developing, ideally with professional guidance, but his temperament, physical qualities and willingness make him a horse with plenty to look forward to. One of the specially invited horses at the Rocas do Vouga Auction 2026, this young son of Rubi AR is an interesting prospect for riders who appreciate classical Lusitano qualities, proven sport genetics and the pleasure of developing a horse of their own. Could he be the Rubi AR son you've been hoping to find? Our Lusitano World team would love to share more about his personality, the feeling he gives under saddle and what makes him such an appealing young prospect. Get in touch at horses@lusitanoworld.com.
